A Performance based on the work of Ana Mendietta
Ana Mendietta’s intention was to point out the connection between the “violated” earth and the assault of women. This performance had a ritualistic and funerary aspect, which in part referenced performance art of the 1970’s. I also inserted a reference to Carolee Schneeman’s work “Interior Scroll” in order to locate the work within the performance art festival “That 70’s Ho” (Western Front, Vancouver 2004), of which it was a part.
