marie antoinette
An Installation by Irene Loughlin and Naufus Figueroa
The performative-installation Marie Antoinette was a collaboration with Naufus Figueroa. The work involved setting up a pink room with an embedded video monitor and cupcakes set on small shelves nailed to the walls. Pictures of British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell decorated a side table at which people were invited to sit, have tea, and talk about cuts to social services in British Colombia. To receive guests, Naufus Figueroa was dressed in a 7 foot wide pink satin dress, echoing camp representations of Marie Antoinette.
