case study of a woman typical of hysteria

The woman wears the white linen associated with the grounds of a psychiatric hospital.  The tree she finds herself caught in signifies the expansive grounds of psychiatric settings, where patients are isolated from the public in hospitals located in remote areas. The video portrays humourous repetitive action outside the gendered realm of heroicism reserved for popular representations of male psychiatric survivors, such as that portrayed in the popular film, A Beautiful Mind.  The aesthetic of this video is composed of a combination of an overexposed low-grade white balance referencing video of the 1970’s and 1980’s, and the colour gradation of hi 8 video references 1990’s technology.
